Turbo flutter full#

A bov iam sure was designed to eliminate the effect of this back pressure and not to release too much pressure from the piping between the turbo and the throttle body, thats why a spring in a bov which is too lose is pointless and will have a negative effect on response etc.

this is the exact reasoning which will cause a turbo under the influence of the returning backpressure to slow down. the fan with the air being blown against it will slow down alot quicker than the fan which has simply just been turned off.

and now do the same again but turn it off while blowing a large amount of air in the opposite direction( maybe by another fan). Now as an experiment get a house fan and turn it off. The air in the piping immediatly before the throttle body once the throttle has been closed has no where to go except back down the direction in which it came, this causes a backsurge of air pressure. there is a VEry small amount of time where it still would be. When u close off the throttle the turbo doesnt immediatly stop providing boost. A turbo can't compress air when it has no power to do it with. If venting boost pressure has any effect on the turbine slowing down at all, the effect would be so small in comparison it would be negligible. It's the same as disconnecting the belt on a supercharger, it will just stop (well maybe not stop completely, but certainly slow down very rapidly). Remember that all of that power comes from exhaust flow - so what's going to happen when you snap the throttle shut? Exhaust flow drops to nothing, now there isn't any power available to spin the turbine. For big turbo setups we're talking tens of killowatts here.

Yeah you will vent some air - but the turbine won't slow down as much, so it should have better response when you nail the throttle WOT again won't it?As has already been mentioned in this thread, the presence of a BOV won't have any effect on how the turbine slows down.ДЄt full noise your turbo requires power, LOTS of power, to keep the compressor wheel spinning at pushing all that air. without a bov u dont get this effect as the pressure stays in the intake. I dont understand how ppl thing bov can help with response?!?! if u vent the pressurised air from the intact tract then u will have to wait for the turbo to re pressurise on throttle opening. Wastegate just vents any excess boost from overspinning the turbo. close the throttle and both compressor and exhaust wheels will slow down. Blow off valves are an easy fix for turbo flutter. Adjusting throttle pressure is an important part of driving, and engine braking shouldnвЂ™t damage your turbocharger. Turbo flutter is one noise we can all do without though. No the compressor and impellor wheel on the turbo is connected. Turbo Flutter If you love the unique noises of turbocharged engines, youвЂ™re definitely not alone. like i said im newbie when it comes to things turbo. tecknicly if you make the W/gate open close rapidly you would get the corosponding flutter from the BOV. Just had athought burn me if u feel the need hehe. I think that is showing the sound im hearing.It clicked i under stand what you mean w/gate opens therefore stoping presure build up, have better understanding of system now thanks Norbie so why would you need a BOV especialy large noisy ones all i can think of is to stop hoses poping off ,or is it to take pressure off buterfly throttle valve when shut. In this log you can see the boost doesn't drop fast. Seems odd that I can just connect that hose and run it down the side of the transmission like that. Another question I had is if I connected the PCV hose properly. I will post photos with my JB4 settings, and links to some logs. I was forced to leave 2 of the aluminium studs in the block, because they got stuck and I dont want to drill them out. I used to have a twisted tuning port injection kit on the car, but I have removed that because i thought it was causing my issue. HKS BOV, with ER CP, (Also tried a synapse CP and bov, Both work fine in a stock car.) Currently running JB4, with the Pump backend flash. I can hear the bov going off, but also hear the air chirping back through the turbos. I am getting turbo flutter when I release the gas. Hey I have posted on FB pages, and JB4 help threads, Still no luck solving my issue.
